Several state Republican Attorneys General are demanding Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas resign. And he is not getting the grace period of your average Cabinet member. Will anyone believe he wants to spend more time with his family? In a letter written to the secretary, 14 Attorneys General accuse Mayorkas of “violating” his oath of office every day since his swearing-in — just over a year ago. The two-page document focuses solely on repeated failures committed by Mayorkas and Joe Biden’s administration in ignoring national security on the border between the United States and Mexico.
The letter did not intend to provide the man a graceful pathway out of office.
Border States and Allies
Florida’s Attorney General, Ashley Moody, is leading the charge for a public Mayorkas tar, feather, and solid drag out of the Swamp. Republican Moody released an individual statement on why she and her colleagues are acting: “Secretary Mayorkas has failed to deliver on the core function of the agency he runs: ‘to secure the nation from the many threats we face.’ Instead, through his refusal to enforce federal laws, including deporting criminals and maintaining order at the border, he has put America and our respective states on the verge of a national security crisis.”
Indeed, the other AGs similarly have cited that the only folks the Biden administration appears to protect are drug runners, human traffickers, and cartels.
Since Mayorkas recited the oath of office pledging “to support and defend the Constitution of the United States from all enemies,” the Southwestern border has become the nation’s biggest security threat. The AGs pointed out there has been a 30% increase in fentanyl crossing over, enough to “kill every man, woman, and child in our country SIX TIMES over.” In addition, since Biden took the reins of the nation, there has been an uptick in sex offenders attempting to enter the country and a severe drop in deportations – a whopping 70% since 2020.
The other state AGs who signed the letter come from Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Georgia, Indiana, Louisiana, Montana, Missouri, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, and West Virginia.
But beyond citing the increasing crime stats, the AGs accuse Mayorkas of willful malfeasance and neglect to enforce the country’s laws by deporting known criminals. The letter reads:
“Given your willingness to enforce the law in the past, the only explanation is that you have consciously and intentionally caved to the far-left mob that has hijacked this administration from our vacant president.”
The AGs took the gloves off. So much so, there was a tinge of a personal vanity attack reminiscent of the Trump rules of the game. The letter claimed Mayorkas “boasted” about not following the laws enacted by Congress. The signers accused the secretary of living in a Swamp bubble, ignorant of or “undeterred, oblivious, or indifferent” to Americans dealing with the immigration crisis.
“We have been pleading with them to follow the law,” AG Moody expressed on Fox & Friends. “We have been suing and demanding that they follow the law. Enough is enough. At this point, it is absolutely clear that Secretary Mayorkas is working not only in violation of the law but against the security of the United States.”
Mayorkas took his oath willingly, understanding the full impact of such a vow. He has one — and only one — job: to protect this country. And according to these AGs, he is not living up to that promise.
